Ah-choooo!

This is my friend and his son. So cute!

Moment of Bliss

Today I received a genuine complement on a presentation I made. I had a minor flub or two, but I guess that really did not matter.

The Next Head Coach

Texas has announced that Muschamp will be the head coach after Mack Brown leaves.  Muschamp has been our Defensive Coordinator for this season.  He has done a great job with our defense and it (IMO) one of the main reasons we are ranked third.  He is known for being tough on the players, but also for letting them know when they have done well.  He gets fired up during the games and chest bust players.

He has done well coaching at LSU and Auburn and Texas made him the highest paid assistant coach in the Big 12.  From what I have seen, he has earned his pay.

Because he is so good, there has been a risk of him leaving for a head coaching job elsewhere.  Who wouldn’t want him when he bring success?  Rumor is Tennesse approached him.  Either way, it was smart of Texas to offer him a HUGE raise with the contract to become head coach.

The cherry on top?  His wife and sons love Austin.  They even said that if he left, he would be going alone.

This is a good day for Texas and a long bright future for Texas football.

The story even made the New York Times.  Another article here.  Even better article here.  And more in his Wikipedia entry.

Texas Won!

45 – 35.  My second favorite game after the National Championship game in 2006.

The game is over.

The game is over.

August Happiness Challenge Day 19

This summer my youngest has been waking up as I get ready. At first I would try to be quieter to let her sleep. But she would always at least hear the front door. Squeaky door opens. “Wait, Mommy, wait!” So now I don’t fight it. If she is not up by the time I walk out the door, I go to her room and kiss her goodbye.

I think they call it karma! (updated)

Over the last few weeks, I have helped a blog-o-sphere friend with her new blog site.  It started out with a simple request to get parts of the blog working, then on to me putting together a design.  In the process we discovered the B2evolution is a horrible blogging software, we moved her to WordPress, then on to the damask theme.  Damask is actually very cool when used in the right way.

With gratitude, she sent me a gift that is wonderful on many levels.  Let me list the ways:

 My New Bag

She made it herself. She picked it out just for me!
It is orange, which is one of my favorite colors.
It uses damask in a very cool way.
It has polka dots on the inside.
Just the right size to hold my new iTouch, headphones, and cable.  I have been looking for a good case for over a month, but could not find anything I liked.

She has her own knows of an Etsy site where she that sells purses, wallets, bags, and more.  Check it out.  Her prices are reasonable an the quality is amazing.  Hint – hint – to family for Christmas time – she sells gift cards!

This also counts for my last 2 days of the August Happiness Challenge.  It should count for more than just two days…….

Quote Of The Day

Via instant messenger the other day:

Donna says:
i sure do love you.

Funny how two little words change the impact.

Moments of Bliss

It has been awhile since I posted something in the category.

Today my office building has electrical problems and they have shut the building down. Since the office is our main data center, it is down also. So no work today.

For the first time since the girls have been at school we were able to have lunch with them. They were surprised and loved that we brought Sonic. It was a moment of bliss.

Day of Bliss

Usually my “Moment of Bliss” posts are about just one moment. Not this one. And I usually don’t go into detail about my days, but today was such a great one…..

Youngest woke me up today and told me to get dressed like her. Put on a jeans and a tshirt. I knew something was up because yesterday Hubby told her a secret. Try as I could she would not tell, but I figured it had something to do with our plans today.

So I got ready and both girls were already dressed, hair brushed and shoes on. WOW!!! We headed out in a direction that I could not guess where were going. I figured it was for breakfast. I watched the exits and tried to notice if we slowed down for a certain restaurant. We passed on by. The exit we took had a McDonalds on the left and a Cracker Barrel on the right. We got in the left turn lane. I grinned to myself knowing we were probably going to McDonalds since Oldest requested it a few weeks ago. (We do NOT like McDonalds!) Light turns green and he pulls out of the lane and goes to Cracker Barrel. It was a sneaky thing to do, but I like Cracker Barrel much better than McDonalds.

We finish up eating at 8:30am and Hubby mentions going to get our hair cut next. I look at him with big eyes, “Our appointment is at NOON!” He slyly grins and says “I thought your said nine.” I start giggling and wondering where we are going next.

As we head out, I am watching our route and trying to figure out where we are going. I finally give up since the options are many. We end up at Putt Putt Golf with an empty parking lot. I ask if they are open. Hubby replies “Their website says they open at 9 am.” We ended up the first customers of the day. It was perfect since it was still cool outside. We got a round of golf in before it got hot. With Putt Putt’s special we got unlimited golf, 60 tokens, hot dogs and a coke. So we headed in to the games and had fun there. Hubby was a hero when he played a “Wheel of Fortune” game and won 800 tickets. Not only did he win all those tickets, but he won a harmonous “WOW” from the girls. With all tickets the girls each got some kind of sea urchin ball, a snake, a fan, a light up ball, and a tatoo. And a package of Pop Rocks to share.

After all that, we still had time to kill so we drove around a VERY nice neighborhood by our hair stylist and drooled. These houses were huge. But I wouldn’t want to clean a house that big.

I always love getting my hair cut and Youngest takes after me. She LOVES it. Oldest likes looking at herself in the mirror and rolling her tongue.

The rest of the day we piddled and the girls happily played with Floam. Have you messed with this stuff before? W.E.I.R.D! You touch it and it feels slimy. But when you feel your fingers after they are dry as can be. The girls love it and spent a few hours entertained. Well worth the money.

I had an “AHA” moment today. I realized my husband likes to surprise me. I can remember him doing it early on in our relationship and it really irked me. I like to know where we are going so that I can be properly prepared. I can remember getting on to him about one of his surprise trips. Over time I have gotten used to it and go with the flow. It means a lot to me to know he took the time to plan today. He took care of the girls getting ready, researched Putt Putt, and thought the whole day through. He does not always express love in a manner that I want, but today he did it his way. And luckily I recognized it.

(PrimoDonna on Mar 13, 2006 8:00 PM) Your day sounds wonderful!! That was so nice of your hubby.

Moment of Bliss

Today we all worked on Oldest’s homework for Kindergarten. She had to read a small book she brought home. So we all sat on our couch and looked over her shoulder as she read. Very nice.
