pockets AND brads
Kris at Gradual Dazzle has the same problem as I and we are not even at the same school.
EVERY SINGLE YEAR this is an issue — the teachers request portfolio folders in six different colors (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple) and these portfolios MUST HAVE pockets AND brads. It never fails, though, that Wal-Mart has absolutely scads and scads of portfolios with POCKETS and a few with BRADS but absolutely NONE with pockets AND brads.
Count out Staples and Walgreens.
I am making ours by hand. We found folders with brads and I am going to add pockets. If the schools are going to require something this specific, they should provide them or buy them in bulk and let us pay them back.

Day 24: Lasagna at the Anti-In-Laws.
Opposing Team Summary – Florida Atlantic University
For our first game this season, Texas plays Florida Atlantic on August 30th. Here is the team summary.
FAU earned the Owl role because… The FAU campus was designated a burrowing owl sanctuary in 1971 by the Audubon Society. The Owl came here because there are not many predators, other than cats, near an airport. The feisty bird, traditionally associated with wisdom and determination, serves as the University’s mascot. Also see What is a burrowing Owl?
Colors:
The school colors of FAU are blue (PMS 295) red (PMS 200), and Flat Silver (PMS 428).
Location:
FAU has 7 Campuses located in Florida cities, with the main campus in Boca Raton.
Main Rival: (and a bonus tradition)
“SHULA BOWL”
Every year Florida Atlantic University plays Florida International University in the “Shula Bowl” at Pro-Player Stadium, home of the Miami Dolphins. The “Shula Bowl” coined after Don Shula, former coach of the Miami Dolphins and record holder of the most NFL wins, gives bragging rights to a South Florida team. Florida Atlantic University acquired a DI-AA football team in 2001 and Florida International University acquired DI-AA in 2002. Since FAU’s acquisition of DI status the rivalry with FIU has strengthened. Results: 2002 FAU (31) FIU (21); 2003 FAU (32) FIU (23); 2004 FAU (17) FIU (10); 2005 FAU (6) FIU (52); 2006 FAU (31) FIU (0).
Spirit:
prOWLers – The rowdiest students at FAU
It all began during the FAU Men’s Basketball Team’s run for the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship in February 2002. A small group of FAU students rallied around the team, showing more support than most student spectators at the games, and adorning themselves in the university’s trademark colors. This abundance of encouragement increased attendance at games and helped to create a true home-court advantage for FAU.
Pablo E. Paez, 2002 FAU SGA governor, along with Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity brother Will Pearson and student government leader Michael W. Moore, gathered this group of students and officially named them the “prOWLers.”
The prOWLers can be found at most sporting events for FAU, teaching students and fans the university’s fight songs and cheers, while carrying on tradition from year’s past and creating new ones for years to come. The group also takes an active roll in fund-raising for the athletic department scholarship fund and the construction of new facilities, as well as attends national conferences to help other universities learn how to start traditions.
Last Season Record:
2007 Sun Belt Conference Champions – FAU shares the title with Troy, both with a 6-1 record. However, FAU beat Troy in thier one match, 38-32. Wouldn’t that make FAU the champs?
2007 New Orleans Bowl Champions – Against Memphis.
History:
FAU is very young in the football arena, but it looks like they have a good coach and team….
FAU began playing football in 2001. In its 22nd game of the program’s existence, the Owls captured a Division I-A victory. FAU hosted an NCAA-semifinal game in 2003 and rose as high as No. 4 nationally. In 2004, FAU was the only team to defeat the University of Hawaii on its home field and marched through four more opponents to tally a 5-0 mark in the first year playing above the Division I-AA level. FAU began its move to full Division I-A status that same season and then moved into the Sun Belt Conference.
In 2006, the Owls became the first Sun Belt Conference team to defeat a Big 10 team. They also played defending national champions University of Florida, and captured the Sun Belt Conference Title and the invitation to the 2007 New Orleans Bowl. Schnellenberger also earned “Sun Belt Coach of the Year” honors to complement quarterback Rusty Smith being named “Sun Belt Player of the Year,” as well as 12 other football team members being named to the all-conference team.
Famous Players:
Chris Laskoowski is on the Colts injured reserve list with a sports hernia injury.
Hubby’s Game Prediction:
FAU will be a frustrating team to play. They will make big plays taking advantage of our younger players in the secondary, but we will beat them at the line of scrimage.

August Happiness Challenge Day 19
This summer my youngest has been waking up as I get ready. At first I would try to be quieter to let her sleep. But she would always at least hear the front door. Squeaky door opens. “Wait, Mommy, wait!” So now I don’t fight it. If she is not up by the time I walk out the door, I go to her room and kiss her goodbye.
August Happiness Challenge Day 18
Happiness is new panties. Don’t ask me how I know.
Daughtry Rocks The Vote!
When asked about the band’s political beliefs, Daughtry was thoroughly bipartisan: “I’m not here to push my political beliefs on anyone. We’re equal-opportunity employers!”
Texas Media Guide ‘08
Our Media Guide is here! Another good sign of the new season. Although we did not make the cover this year, it is pretty cool with holograms and all.
