New Holiday Dinner Dish
This year hubby and I added a new dish to our Christmas spread.
He tested the homemade Mushroom Soup Recipe (from Wolfgang Puck) at the beginning of December with great reviews and drooling.
So for the actual Christmas dinner, we used Paula Deen’s Green Bean Casserole recipe, replacing the canned mushroom soup with the Puck soup hubby made the day before and using fresh green beans. What I really liked about Paula’s recipe is that she mixes in the fried onions instead of just putting them on top. Yum!
It has been requested for us to prepare this dish for next years Thanksgiving dinner and we will be making it again for Christmas. It is a dish well worth the time since the taste and flavors our wonderful. It would be a great dish to take to a party if you want to impress. And if they don’t like it, you get to eat all of the leftovers!
Don’t ask me how I know….
If your daughters have one of these, take the manufacturer seriously when they say “This card has to be kept since it contains important information.” What they forget to add is …like how to turn off one of the 5 alarm settings that cause it to go off at 12:00 am.
Don’t ask me how I know, but it happens to be 12:18 am.
Paying attention just adds to the gift….
So before Christmas I was telling my anti-MIL that they should make cilantro soap since I love the smell. Little did I know that my comment would inspire her to add an additional scent to her soap making endeavor before Christmas. So I now have cilantro scented soap, with a real cilantro leaf inside!!

And to top it all off, she threw in plumeria to boot!!!
New Adventure
Both the girls are participating in Upward Basketball for the winter season. Oldest was in Upward Soccer and we enjoyed the postive and fun attitude of the coaches and refs. We received a call with details for Youngest’s team, but not Oldest. When I called the church to find out the details, I discovered she did not have a coach. Yep, it flashed through my mind quickly and out of my mouth came “What do you require to coach?” Lady on the phone was not sure, but she knew how to get me to the coordinator’s voice mail.
I immediatly called my Dad to see if he would coach with me. I told him I could do the organizing and he could do tha actual coaching. Discussion, Dad gave me his basketball resume, which I did not need, he already had the job, more discussion. Aggrement to coach!!!!
I received a call back about an hour later, expressed my interest, got a chuckle for recruiting my Dad, and was given the needed details.
All is good, they provide a manual with guidance on what to do each practice, with drills and details. I am not sure if I am more excited than nervous, but mostly excited.
I will get to spend time with my Dad, daughter, and will be learning something new. Weeeee!
