From Jon Stuart?!?!
You have probably seen this elsewhere, but man, o, man – it is priceless!
Basketball Update
Today was the 2nd game of my coaching career. I am 1-1. Woo hooo!
Our first game I was pleasantly surprised by how well the girls played. I recruited a basketball savy mom for our practice this week and we improved on our shooting and defending. Rebounding needs some work, but I can see how it is hard to defend your person and keep your eye on the ball.
This league is about equal playing time, equal matchups, and building skills. Each quarter the girls line up and the refs and coaches make sure the matchups are equal. One matchup needed to be changed and the ref asked for me to select a weaker player (quietly, of course). I realized I did not have a weak player, but a few who are just a little better. How cool is that?!?! I have a good team!
My Oldest is on the team and we had her matched up with the tallest girl from the other team. Good matchup. She asked me to switch her color so she could cover someone else. I told her it was a good matchup, they were both the tallest, and she was doing fine. I mentioned this to the other team coach and she said the girl Oldest was covering asked her the same thing.
Overheard from a Visa commercial
Commercial voice: “Why do yo show up 5 hours before the game?”
Hubby: “Cause your late.”
“The Girl Who had No Friends” by Honey Bee
Once there was a girl named Julia. She had no friends, not even one. Everyone hated her. But she did not do anything to make them hate her. She was very sad, but she did not cry. When it is recess time she sits down somewhere or talks to the recess teacher. She had a very bad life. She made a friend this year. His name was Ken. They played and talked at lunch and recess. They made another friend. Her name was Cortrena. She did not have a favorite. She liked them both the same.
The End.
“The Last Day of the Year” by Honey Bee
Once there was a girl names Coralana. Everyone in the school laughed at her name. But the last day of every year no one made fun of her name because it was her birthday. She loved that day the most. But her family got a chance on Christmas to make fun of her. So they did. So she went up to her room and cried. She never had fun except on the last day of the year. She did not have a good life. But she did not blame God, she blamed the ones who made fun of her. God appreciates it. Now God let her have all year like her birthday.
The End.

“The Seven Elves” by Honey Bee
Once there were 20 Santa’s and seven elves. One day the Santas were fighting over the seven elves. The wise one said “Stop fighting over the seven elves, only the real Santa would not fight over the seven elves. He would know who’s elves they were so he would not choose to fight, but to take them because they are his. He would not fight for anything he knew was not his. He would just take whatever the other Santas were fighting over.” So they stopped fighting and started living and laughing about it.
The End.
Note on “The Worst Day” story
Honey Bee used her new calculator and some critical information from her Dad to figure out the hours, minutes and seconds that the boy in the story cried. I did not know she had a specific reason for needing this info until she asked me to post her story.
“Four Very Good People” by Honey Bee
Once there were four very, very, very, very good people and 20 bad people. It was up to the good people to stop them from doing bad. So they went different ways. Two went one way, the other two went the other way. The good people found the bad people. The good people did not kill them. Instead they got them to be good people. So there would never be any bad people to walk the face of the earth again. There became 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 good people and zero thousand bad people. The End.
